Subject: Important Update — Sunday Gather Location
Dear Common Good Family,
I’m writing with some unexpected news regarding our current Sunday gathering space at 4 Tomorrow Safe Parking. This week we were informed by Monik Martinez, Executive Director of 4 Tomorrow, that in the process of investigating some water intrusion that occurred recently in the building 4 Tomorrow Safe Parking occupies, it was determined by a third-party inspector that more significant structural damage exists that cannot be repaired. This means that the building is unsafe and we can no longer continue indoor operations here, effective Monday, May 19th.
As a result, this Sunday, May 18th will be our last and final Sunday service in our current location.
We understand this news comes as a surprise, and that you may feel a mix of emotions about such a sudden change, including sadness and disappointment. While this is not how we imagined ending our time in this space, we believe that God is still leading us forward — and sometimes, transitions come faster than we’d planned.
A couple of things we want you to know:
We are working diligently to find a new temporary Sunday gathering location for us to host Sunday services for the summer starting Sunday, June 1st. We already have a couple of promising leads with other missionally-aligned local churches in the Bellevue area that are happy to make space for us. Specific details will be announced soon. As a reminder, we already had plans to not have any Sunday gatherings for Sunday, May 25th given the holiday weekend.
We are committed to continuing to support and partner with 4 Tomorrow Safe Parking going forward. Our leadership is equally, if not more concerned about the well-being of the staff and families of 4 Tomorrow Safe Parking who are most impacted by this sudden change, and are in ongoing communication as to how we as a church can support them. Please see attached letter below from 4 Tomorrow leadership that was shared with the Safe Parking community earlier today which outlines their plan of action during this time of transition. We are hopeful that as they begin searching for a permanent home for the program, the door will remain open for us to continue to partner with them.
In the meantime, we’d love for you to join us this Sunday for one final worship service and a community dinner meal in our current space. It will be a special time to remember, reflect, share, and celebrate all that God has done during our brief time here at this location. More than just a farewell to a physical building, it’s a chance to come together with our 4 Tomorrow Safe Parking families in gratitude and anticipation for the future.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to me directly.
Let’s fill the room this Sunday — not just with people, but with love and hope for what’s ahead.
With love and trust in God’s leading,
Royce (on behalf of the CG staff & elders)
